Ten Years of 5P: Grateful, Grounded, and Resilient

August marks a huge milestone for us at 5P Consulting: ten years in business;  a full decade, unbelievable! My vision has always been to do ‘cool stuff with cool people’ and build a company people loved working for, and clients loved working with.

Before I go any further, I want to start where it matters most: thank you. I am so humbled to have had the privilege of leading 5P over the past decade.

To our clients, both the ones who have trusted us for years and the ones who found us this past year, you are the reason there is a story to tell at all. Thank you for letting us into your businesses, for the hard problems, for the referrals, and for believing that technology should deliver a return and not just a bill. And to my team, you are the heart of 5P. You show up with passion and service. I have also had the privilege to watch each and every one of you develop personally and professionally. You have made sacrifices in the lean seasons and celebrated in the good ones, and I do not take a single day of that for granted.

Ten Years of Dreams Realized

When I started 5P, the vision was simple but ambitious. I wanted a firm built on People, Process, Products, P&L, and Priorities. One that created value with impactful solutions for clients. Ten years later, so many of the things I once hoped for have happened:

  • We built a global team of some of the kindest, client-focused people I know; people I genuinely look forward to working with

  • We grew from a founder-led organization into a firm with real practices and real depth

  • We became a Pledge 1%, WBE, and WOSB certified company, giving back time and dollars to the communities that raised us

  • We watched team members advance their careers, buy homes, and build lives, which is the dream I care about most

  • We earned long-term client relationships, some going back nearly the whole journey

Not every year has been easy, and 2026 has tested me in new ways, as this year has been hard economically and emotionally. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, and anyone who has run a service firm knows that. However, ten years in business has taught me that despite going through hard chapters, every time we came out the other side was because of our core foundation: people, our values, and the clients who stayed with us. I am confident that with my lean team, we will rise and come out better.

Lessons I’ve Learned

Looking back over ten years in, there are a few lessons that have really earned their keep:

  • Communicate often and honestly, both the good and the hard; trust gets built in the hard conversations

  • Always deliver value, not just services, and every engagement should have an ROI

  • Treat your team like professionals and give them the freedom to make decisions and mistakes; ask for forgiveness, not permission

  • Listen first and talk second

  • Know where your own business stands every month, and be willing to pivot when the data tell you to

  • Keep cash flow mechanisms in place for the lean stretches, because those lean stretches will come

  • Do not compare yourself to other CEOs; comparison really is the thief of joy, and if your clients and team are happy, that is the truest measure of success

  • Take the vacation where you actually unplug, because how you show up matters more than the hours you put in

  • Lead with empathy, run the business with strong ethics, and remember that some things are simply out of your control; so try not to be too hard on yourself

  • Always do the right thing, especially when it is hard

How We Deliver Value Today

One thing I am proud of is how much our services have matured over the years. We started as a broad transformation shop, and today we focus on a few core areas: Agentic AI, Salesforce, Information Management, Financial Transformation, and M&A and Private Equity Strategic Support. What connects them has not changed. Technology on its own does not drive growth; alignment does. Whether we are building a full view of a client’s data, helping a finance team move from manual reporting to smarter, data-driven decisions, or setting up Salesforce as a single source of truth, the job is the same as it was on day one. We help our clients get real, measurable results from their technology.

Looking Ahead

As we head into year eleven, my hope is simple. I want us to keep doing meaningful work, keep having fun together, and keep making a real difference for our clients. I am realistic about the constraints in front of us and genuinely optimistic about what is next. A hard year does not change why we do this work. If anything, it reminds me why I love it. I am excited about what AI and well-governed data are opening up for our clients, and about doing that work alongside a team of good people with great hearts.

To every client, team member, partner, and friend who has been part of this journey, thank you. You are the reason we are still here and still building. I am eternally grateful for ten years of 5P, and I cannot wait for what comes next.

Happy 10th anniversary, 5P Consulting!
